Our output of today's brainstorming

Day 5

Working day number 5, 07.03.2014 in Turun Kauppakorkeakoulu, is behind and this is our output for the day.

Turku public transportation ideas

We came up with the following ideas to improve the public transportation in Turku:

1. Free Navigation and route-planning App 
• We want the planning and navigation to be as easy as possible and since a lot of people are using smartphones these days it would be convenient to have a free app where you can locate the closest bus-stop from your location and see when the next bus leaves and how long it would take to go to your destination.
2. Express-lines 
• For popular destinations and neighborhoods there should be express-lines so that people can save some time traveling and so that the bus does not stop at every single stop in between. 
3. The Brahe line
• Since not every one want to go by the city center every time they take the bus, we came up with the idea of a line that goes around the city centre called the Brahe line. We want to make the opportunity to for example go from the University of Turku to Hirvensalo without passing the centre.

Other ideas we have thought about are

• To improve the bus stops, to make them more comfortable. For example that they are warm in the winter and cold in the summer.
• Make the city centre more difficult to access by care (maybe by more expensive parking) so that people are encouraged to take the bus. 
• More marketing and promotion
